Metro-North Railroad will launch new “super-express” service on the Hudson Line between Poughkeepsie and Grand Central Terminal starting October 6.

Five trips will run in less than 90 minutes, and one will operate in 95 minutes. Current non-express trips can take up to 115 minutes. The new schedules reduce travel times by as much as 20 minutes compared to non-express service.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) also adjusted dozens of other trains across its system. Metro-North used simulation software, GPS data, and signal analysis to optimize schedules. Signaling upgrades now allow higher train speeds and reduce the effect of speed restrictions along the Hudson Line.

The changes, originally scheduled for 2026, were completed ahead of plan and are part of the MTA’s broader strategy to expand capacity and improve reliability.
