The Healey-Driscoll Administration has awarded $1.24 billion in low-interest loans and grants to fund 67 drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Massachusetts. The financing is provided through the State Revolving Fund (SRF), administered by the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust in partnership with MassDEP.

This round includes $885.8 million for clean water projects and $364 million for drinking water improvements. The funding will support new and ongoing construction, PFAS remediation, lead service line replacements, septic system upgrades, and emergency response projects. Communities must secure local funding and submit loan applications by June 30, 2025, to move forward.

Approximately $162 million will be awarded as loan forgiveness, prioritizing communities that meet affordability criteria and projects that incorporate renewable energy. The state’s SRF programs have delivered more than $9.6 billion in water infrastructure financing since inception.

The funding aims to modernize aging systems, reduce public health risks, address climate-related challenges, and improve water quality in both urban and rural communities.
