Inland Port Greer, SC Completes $55 Million Expansion

South Carolina Ports has completed a $55 million expansion at Inland Port Greer, increasing its capacity by 50 per cent to support long-term growth in intermodal freight. The upgrades enable the facility to handle up to 300,000 rail lifts annually and meet projected demand through 2040.

The project includes an enlarged container yard, 9,000 feet of additional rail track to accommodate longer trains, an expanded chassis lot, and new operations and maintenance buildings. Inland Port Greer connects to the Port of Charleston via Norfolk Southern rail and serves manufacturers and logistics companies throughout the state’s Upstate region.

The expansion was partially funded by a $25 million BUILD grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation in 2018. SC Ports received $13.75 million from the grant to support the project.
