Hoffman Construction has secured a $350 million contract from Sound Transit to develop the Operations and Maintenance Facility South in Federal Way, Washington. The project supports expansion of the region’s light rail network.
The project will deliver a 70-acre maintenance and operations hub for light rail vehicles. The scope includes final design, site preparation, roadway improvements, procurement of long-lead materials, and construction of support facilities. The facility will include storage, testing, and maintenance infrastructure for an expanded fleet.
The facility will accommodate at least 72 light rail vehicles and include a maintenance-of-way building and supporting infrastructure. A mainline track connection will link the facility to the broader transit network.
Early work is expected to begin in 2026, with completion targeted for 2032. The project is in the initial design and preparation phase.
