The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has opened a $610 million funding round for bus and transit infrastructure projects across the US. The funding will support bus purchases, fleet upgrades, and related facilities.
FTA will provide approximately $589 million through the Low or No Emission Vehicle Program. Transit agencies can use the funding to acquire or lease low- and zero-emission buses. The program also supports equipment purchases and construction of related facilities. FTA plans to prioritize low-emission projects over zero-emission projects where permitted by law.
The agency will provide another $21 million through the Buses and Bus Facilities Program. The program supports the purchase, lease, and rehabilitation of buses and vans. Agencies can also use the funding to build or upgrade bus facilities. Funding comes from the Highway Trust Fund’s Mass Transit Account. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act authorized the funding for fiscal year 2026.
State, local, and tribal transit agencies and other eligible applicants can compete for the grants. FTA has set an application deadline of September 21, 2026.
