The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced $66,699,586 in grants for infrastructure improvements at 22 airports across New York State. The funding comes through the Airport Improvement Program and the Airport Infrastructure Grant Program.
Major allocations include more than $15 million for Westchester County Airport, over $13 million for Syracuse Hancock International Airport, and more than $7 million for Watertown International Airport. Projects will support runway and taxiway renovations, terminal expansions, perimeter fencing, signage and lighting upgrades, and the acquisition of firefighting and snow removal equipment.
Additional grants include $6 million for Syracuse Hancock International Airport and $1.5 million for Ithaca Tompkins International Airport through congressionally directed FY24 funding.
The projects are aimed at enhancing safety, modernizing facilities, and supporting long-term operations at airports across urban, regional, and rural communities in New York.
