EVgo and Kroger Launch Nationwide Fast-Charging Deployment at Grocery Stores

EVgo has launched a long-term program to install thousands of DC fast-charging stalls at Kroger Family of Stores locations across the United States.

The deployment will add at least 150 fast-charging stalls per year through 2035 at stores operating under the Kroger, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, and Smith’s Food and Drug brands. Each site will include up to 16 high-power DC fast-charging stalls designed to support short-duration charging sessions during grocery visits.

The first charging site is now operating at a Smith’s store in Salt Lake City. EVgo plans additional installations in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Washington, and other states. EVgo will design, install, and operate the charging stations. 

EVgo currently operates more than 4,600 fast-charging stalls nationwide and plans to exceed 15,000 operational stalls by the end of 2029. The program will expand public fast-charging access at retail locations and support electric vehicle adoption across multiple markets.
