The City of Delray Beach will break ground in January on a $287 million water treatment plant to replace its aging drinking water facility. The new plant will modernize the city’s water system and meet current federal water quality standards.

The project will use nanofiltration technology to improve contaminant removal and increase treatment reliability. The facility will also include upgraded backup power systems to maintain operations during storms and power outages. The plant will replace infrastructure that has served the city for more than 60 years.

Delray Beach is financing the project through two water utility revenue bonds. The city will not use general fund revenues. CDM Constructors is delivering the project under a progressive design-build contract.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026. The facility will support long-term water supply reliability for residents and businesses as the city continues to grow.
