Cordel Group has secured a new contract with a US Class I railroad to deploy artificial intelligence and LiDAR-based inspection technology across active rail operations. The engagement represents Cordel’s third contract with a Class I railroad in North America.
The project will validate asset management and clearance assessment capabilities using Cordel’s AI platform and LiDAR systems in live railroad environments. As part of the deployment, the railroad will install Cordel’s ruggedized hardware on a geometry testing vehicle owned by the operator.
Commissioning is planned for the first quarter of 2026 during a scheduled maintenance window. The initial phase of the project includes the capture and analysis of data across up to 3,000 miles of active rail network to support operational validation.
