Cordel Group has signed a five-year contract valued at over $3.7 million with a major U.S. class one freight railroad, expanding its footprint in the North American rail sector. The company will deliver its complete rail corridor analytics platform, providing annual network-wide data capture, AI-driven processing, and insight delivery services.

Under the agreement, Cordel will install multiple ruggedized LiDAR systems on geometry vehicles to enable high-frequency, high-accuracy data collection. The company’s proprietary AI will analyze the data to identify and classify infrastructure features such as rail heads, ballast, vegetation, structures, platforms, and overhead line equipment. Cordel will deliver the processed insights through its Cordel Connect platform to support enterprise-level operational decision-making.

The contract also includes a $3.8 million provision for Cordel’s upcoming positive train control (PTC) asset management software-as-a-service product, scheduled to launch in July.

This marks Cordel’s second multi-year contract with a U.S. class one railroad and its third major client in the U.S., following previous agreements with Amtrak and Genesee & Wyoming.
