The California Energy Commission (CEC) has launched the Fast Charge California Project, a $55 million incentive program offering up to 100% of installation costs for publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) fast chargers at businesses and public sites. The program, part of the California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project (CALeVIP), will accept applications through October 29, 2025.

Eligible locations include convenience stores, gas stations, retail centers, parking lots, and other high-traffic destinations. Priority will be given to projects in tribal areas, disadvantaged communities, and low-income communities. Incentives are capped at $55,000 per port for chargers with capacities between 150 and 274.99 kW, and $100,000 per port for chargers above 275 kW. Projects must be ready to build with a final utility service design and all permits in place.

The program is funded through the CEC’s Clean Transportation Program and the state’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. It is expected to support the installation of at least 550 to 1,000 new DC fast-charging ports statewide.
