The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a total of $8.7 million in federal funding to Bradley International Airport and Danbury Municipal Airport for infrastructure enhancements.
Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks received $8.5 million to support its ongoing $250 million terminal expansion project. The multiyear effort, launched in 2023, aims to improve passenger flow and terminal functionality. Recent milestones include the opening of a new exit corridor in the east concourse, with a second exit under construction. These upgrades will streamline access to baggage claims, rental services, and ground transportation.
To date, the Bradley expansion has secured over $113 million in federal funding through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Additional funding sources include passenger facility charges and airport revenue managed by the Connecticut Airport Authority.
Danbury Municipal Airport will receive a $225,378 federal grant to replace its aging lighting vault equipment, enhancing airfield safety and reliability.
