Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has selected Kiewit Austin Partnership (KAP) as the design-build contractor for the Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF) for the Austin Light Rail system.

The project scope includes the design and construction of a facility to store, service, and dispatch light rail vehicles. The facility will also support daily system operations by housing maintenance crews, operators, and support staff.

The project is part of the broader Austin Light Rail system, which will include 15 stations along a nearly 10-mile alignment with all-electric trains. Cost details for the OMF component have not been disclosed.

Kiewit Austin Partnership, a joint venture between Kiewit Building Group Inc. and Austin Commercial, will lead design and construction. The team will work with multiple subcontractors, including regional firms participating in the design phase.

ATP has approved the contractor selection and initiated pre-construction activities. The project has entered the design and permitting phase, with field investigations and site preparation underway. The facility will support long-term light rail operations and improve system reliability.
