The Arizona Department of Transportation has selected the Coffman-Fisher design-build team to deliver the northern segment of the I-10 Wild Horse Pass Corridor improvements between Phoenix and Tucson.

The design-build team includes Coffman Specialties, Fisher Sand & Gravel Company, and lead designer Stantec Consulting Services. The project will cover approximately 12 miles of Interstate 10, extending from Loop 202 to the Gila River Bridges within the Gila River Indian Community.

The project will add one general-purpose lane and one high-occupancy vehicle lane in each direction from Loop 202 to south of Riggs Road.. Additional work includes interchange modifications at Wild Horse Pass, Queen Creek, Riggs Road, and Koli Road, as well as rehabilitation of the Goodyear Road grade-separated structure over I-10.

The scope also includes corridor-wide upgrades such as intelligent transportation systems, lighting, signals, signing, pavement markings, and drainage improvements. It forms part of the broader I-10 Wild Horse Pass Corridor program, which carries an estimated total value of approximately $1 billion.

The corridor serves as a major commuter and freight route linking Phoenix, Tucson, and surrounding communities. State officials estimate the improvements will reduce congestion for up to 126,000 vehicles per day while enhancing roadway safety and mobility.

Project partners include the Federal Highway Administration, the Gila River Indian Community, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Maricopa Association of Governments.
