Alaska Airlines has begun construction on a new $150 million maintenance hangar at Portland International Airport, expanding aircraft servicing capacity as operations continue to grow at the airport.
The facility will add approximately 125,000 square feet of indoor maintenance space and 60,000 square feet of offices, workshops, and support areas. The hangar will support maintenance work for both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines aircraft fleets.
Maintenance crews will be able to service up to three narrowbody aircraft or two widebody aircraft simultaneously. The additional capacity will help the airline return aircraft to service more quickly and reduce reliance on maintenance facilities in other hubs.
The project will create more than 100 jobs for maintenance technicians, engineers, and support staff. Alaska Airlines expects to complete construction and place the facility into operation during the second quarter of 2028.
