Alachua County will receive more than $35 million in combined federal, county, and private funding to expand high-speed internet access by 2030. The effort will extend broadband service to rural and underserved areas.

The county received $12.4 million through the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program to support network expansion. In addition, Alachua County and Kinetic will invest $22.9 million through a public–private partnership to deploy fiber infrastructure across the region.

The combined initiative aims to provide high-speed internet access to about 95% of households when complete. Private providers selected through the BEAD process will extend fiber to eligible locations. Installation costs will be supported by federal and local funds.

Deployment schedules and construction timelines will vary by service area, with full buildout expected by 2030.
