USDOT has awarded $1.776 billion in FAA grants to upgrade airports across the United States. The funding will support runway rehabilitation, taxiway construction, terminal improvements, apron expansion, and other safety upgrades at airports in 46 states.
Denver International Airport received the largest grant at $88.8 million for pavement rehabilitation projects. Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field secured $74 million to rehabilitate its runway, expand the apron, and upgrade visual guidance lighting. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport received $62.4 million for runway and lighting rehabilitation, while Houston Hobby Airport received $62.2 million for runway construction.
The FAA also awarded $47.6 million to John F. Kennedy International Airport for taxiway construction and the reconstruction of an aircraft rescue and firefighting facility. Orlando International Airport received $36 million to rehabilitate terminal facilities, taxiways, and lighting. Oakland International Airport secured $28.1 million for taxiway rehabilitation.
The grants will modernize airport infrastructure, improve operational safety, and increase capacity at airports across the country. The FAA will distribute the funding through its Airport Infrastructure Grants and Airport Improvement Program.
