Cemex and Port Tampa Bay have completed a $36 million expansion of the Cemex Aggregate Terminal, increasing the facility’s capacity to supply construction materials across the Tampa Bay region.
Cemex invested $29 million in the project, while the Florida Department of Transportation contributed a $7 million grant. The expansion upgrades the terminal’s ability to receive, store, and distribute aggregates used in concrete, asphalt, and other construction applications.
The facility imports aggregates from Newfoundland, Canada, through Port Tampa Bay’s deep water berths. A new conveying system can transfer up to 5,000 tons of material per hour from vessels to storage areas. Cemex expects the terminal to handle approximately 1.5 million tons of aggregates annually.
The expanded facility will support demand from transportation, residential, commercial, and public infrastructure projects throughout Central Florida. Cemex supplies materials for major highway, bridge, airport, and building projects across the state.
The expansion aligns with ongoing infrastructure investments across the region, including highway improvements, airport development, and other major construction projects.
