Kansas has awarded $6.7 million in Broadband Acceleration Grants to five internet service providers to expand high-speed internet access across eight rural counties. The projects will extend service to about 1,068 households and businesses in underserved areas.

Private and local partners will match the state grants with an additional $6.7 million, bringing total investment to $13.4 million. The funding will support fiber network construction and related infrastructure improvements.

The Kansas Office of Broadband Development is administering the grants with funding from the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program. The state launched the Broadband Acceleration Grant program in 2020 as a 10-year, $85 million initiative.
