Union Pacific Railroad has added 15 new Focus Sites across eight states, bringing its total network of large-scale development sites to 39. Twelve of the new locations are served by short line railroads, giving shippers improved access to Union Pacific’s 32,000-mile, 23-state network and expanding connections to domestic and international markets.
Focus Sites are industrial properties suited for custom-built warehouses and logistics facilities. By concentrating resources at these hubs, Union Pacific can provide targeted services and streamline rail connections for customers. Short line partnerships enable businesses to link local facilities to Union Pacific’s mainline, opening direct routes to Canada, Mexico, and major US ports, including Los Angeles and Long Beach.
The 15 new sites are located in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Washington, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Texas. Union Pacific noted that the program supports local and regional economic growth by making rail service more accessible for manufacturers, distributors, and shippers.
In addition to its Focus Site network, Union Pacific offers a Site Solutions Tool with more than 2,000 available properties located within half a mile of its rail lines. The online tool is regularly updated to help businesses identify locations where new rail service can be established.
