The Colorado Clean Transit Enterprise (CTE) has awarded $44 million in state funding to the Regional Transportation District (RTD) to expand public transit services across the Denver metropolitan area. The investment will support more frequent services, extended operating hours, and new routes to improve regional connectivity.

The funding will increase service frequency on the Flatiron Flyer bus route between Denver and Boulder and improve connections between Boulder and Denver International Airport. RTD will also increase frequencies on routes serving East Evans Avenue, Buckley Road, Alameda Avenue, South Downing Street, University Boulevard, West 38th Avenue, and more. Additional improvements will include extended operating hours on routes serving Broadway and Mississippi Avenue. The funding will also help RTD accommodate increased passenger demand during major events, including concerts and sporting events.

CTE operates under the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and provides state funding for projects that expand access to public transit and reduce transportation-related emissions. RTD expects the planned improvements to generate approximately 3.8 million additional passenger trips in 2027, with annual ridership gains potentially exceeding 6.5 million as the expanded services develop.
