Construction has begun on Hut 8’s River Bend artificial intelligence data center campus in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Phase I represents up to $10 billion in private investment.
Hut 8 is developing the campus and selected Jacobs as the engineering, procurement, and construction management partner. Vertiv will support critical digital infrastructure. J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs will underwrite project-level financing expected to cover up to 85% of total costs.
The campus will support large-scale AI computing and digital infrastructure. The site may scale to as much as 1,000 megawatts of utility capacity. Entergy Louisiana will supply an initial 330 megawatts to support 245 megawatts of critical IT load.
Phase I construction will employ up to 1,000 workers at peak activity. Once operational, the project is expected to create at least 75 direct jobs, with additional indirect employment projected in the region.
Operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
